How Does A Location Qualify To Be An IBA?

If you know a special place for birds, it might qualify to be an official IBA. The site must pass the test given by the Ohio IBA Technical Committee to be designated as an IBA. A special place might qualify because it has one or more of the following categories. For more information, click on the links below.

Places where rare species of birds are found.
Places with rare natural habitats with birds that are only found in these special habitats.
Places where large numbers of birds are found.
Places that have been important for a long time for the study of birds.
